조선 시대와 근현대에서 만난 19인의 한글 역사 이야기

제3회 창비 청소년 도서상 수상자인 한글학자 김슬옹과 시인 김응이 함께 쓰고 화가 이수진이 그린 『한글 대표 선수 10+9』가 출간되었다. 이 책은 한자를 모르는 백성들이 자신이 말하려는 바를 말하지 못하고 뜻을 펼치지 못하는 것을 안타깝게 여겨 훈민정음을 창제한 세종의 뜻을 이어, 한글을 천대하고 한글을 쓰지 못했던 시기에 한글을 지키고 가꾼 사람들의 이야기가 담겨 있다. 조선 시대의 인물 10명과 근현대의 인물 9명의 일화를 소개함으로써 10월 9일, 뜻깊은 한글날로 더욱더 알리고 기리고자 하였다. 초등학교 고학년부터 중학생까지 재미나게 읽으며 한글의 소중함을 절로 깨달을 수 있다.
