[ENG]

Gros-Yeux was fourteen years old when he arrived with his mother in the immense open-air dump of Seoul. There live no less than two thousand households, in huts clinging to the side of the mountain of garbage, in a society strongly hierarchical, the smallest aspect of which – work, clothing, food, housing – comes from the refuse of the outside world, deposited there by an incessant round of trucks from morning to evening. Grosyeux befriends a somewhat simple-minded boy, who introduces him to the benevolent spirits of the former inhabitants when the dump was still a land devoted to agricultural crops and shamanic cults. The story takes place at the beginning of the years of dictatorship.
