세종학당 실용 한국어』 교재는 해외 한국어 학습자의 ‘의사소통’ 능력 신장에 초점을 맞춘 ‘한국어’ 교재로 2016년에 개발된 『세종한국어 회화』 교재의 개정판입니다.

이번에 새롭게 『세종학당 실용 한국어』를 발간하면서 『세종한국어 회화』 교재를 사용한 경험이 있는 교원, 학습자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며 세종학당 파견 교원, 현지 교원, 운영 교원을 대상으로 심층 면담을 진행하여 『세종한국어 회화』의 장점을 극대화하고 단점을 보완하는 작업을 진행하였습니다.
특히 최근에 한국어 교재에서 주목하고 있는 ‘성 영향 평가 항목’에 맞추어 성 역할의 고정관념이나 편견을 제거하고 성별 대표성의 불균형을 없애고자 하였습니다.

또한 삽화나 사진이 제시하는 바가 명확하지 않은 것이나 지시문이 복잡한 것은 명료화, 단순화하여 교수·학습의 효율성을 높이고자 하였습니다.

이뿐만 아니라 복수 표준어는 한국인이 많이 사용하는 어휘로 대체하였고, 출판 이후 변화된 한국의 사회문화적 상황을 고려하여 시의 적절성과 교육 현장에서의 실제 활용성을 제고하도록 하였습니다.

집필 방향
ㆍ본 교재는 세종학당의 설립 취지와 목적에 맞추어 한국어 학습자가 상호주의적 관점에서 한국어를 배우고 한국 사회를 이해할 수 있도록 집필되었습니다.
ㆍ본 교재는 ‘국제 통용 한국어교육 표준 모형’ 및 ‘세종학당 표준 교육 모형’에 의거하여 개발되었으며 기존 세종학당 표준 교재인 『세종 한국어』의 5, 6, 7, 8권의 도달 목표를 기준으로 개발되었습니다.

『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 3』은 『세종한국어』 5, 6권, 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 4』는 『세종한국어』 7, 8권의 도달 목표에 준합니다.
ㆍ본 교재는 ‘세종학당 표준 교육 모형’ 중 45시간 모형을 기준으로 말하기와 듣기 교육에 집중할 수 있도록 설계되었습니다.
ㆍ‘세종학당 표준 교육 모형’ 중 45시간 모형은 말하기와 듣기에 집중하는 ‘축약형’ 모형으로 본 교재 또한 말하기와 듣기 교육을 중심으로 구성되었습니다.
ㆍ본 교재는 45시간 모형에 준하되 세 개의 파트로 이루어진 모듈 구성을 채택하여 각 세종학당의 수업 시수에 따라 일부 모듈을 생략하거나 모듈 내 하위 구성 요소의 일부를 선택적으로 사용할 수 있어 60시간 모형에서도 활용이 가능하도록 구성되었습니다.
ㆍ본 교재는 정확성과 유창성을 고르게 향상시키기 위하여 언어 지식과 실제적인 의사소통 활동 과제를 고르게 포함시켰습니다.
ㆍ본 교재의 학습 내용과 학습 활동은 성인 학습자의 인지 능력, 학습 전략을 고려하여 효율적인 학습이 이루어질 수 있도록 하였습니다.

교재 내용의 구성
ㆍ본 교재는 기존 표준 교재인 『세종한국어』 5, 6, 7, 8권과의 연계성 확보를 위하여 『세종한국어』 5, 6, 7, 8권의 주제·기능과 언어 지식 및 언어 기술을 반영하였으며, 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 3』과 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 4』에 각 14개의 단원을 설정하였습니다.
ㆍ‘Part 1’과 ‘Part 2’는 언어 지식에 대한 학습을 목표로 하고 있어 파트 당 1개의 어휘장과 1개의 표현 항목 학습이 가능하도록 하였습니다. 또한 학습자가 유의미한 활동을 통하여 언어 지식을 내재화할 수 있도록 다양한 회화 활동을 포함시켰습니다.
ㆍ‘Part 3’은 ‘연습해요’와 ‘이야기해 봐요’, ‘듣고 말해요’, ‘더 말해 봐요’로 구성하였습니다. ‘연습해요’는 기존에 학습한 내용에 대한 복습 단계이며 ‘이야기해 봐요’는 목표 담화 구성을 위한 의사소통 과제,‘듣고 말해요’는 듣기와 말하기를 통합한 과제 수행 단계입니다.

그리고 ‘더 말해 봐요’는 ‘Part 1’, ‘Part 2’, ‘듣고 말해요’, ‘이야기해 봐요’에서 학습한 내용들을 종합적으로 이용하여 주어진 과제를 수행하는 단계로 교사의 통제를 최소한으로 하고 자유롭게 발화할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 수 있도록 설계하였습니다.

‘Part 3’의 경우 각 세종학당의 수업 시수를 감안하여 선택적으로 수행할 수 있도록 되어 있으며 시간이 부족한 경우 ‘연습해요’와 ‘듣고 말해요’는 교실 상황에 맞게 적절하게 선택하여 진행할 수 있습니다.
ㆍ‘함께 이야기해요’는 7과와 14과가 끝난 후 그동안 학습한 모든 단원의 내용들을 총체적으로 사용하여 말하기 활동을 할 수 있도록 구성하였습니다.

‘함께 이야기해요’의 과제는 다양한 유형의 말하기 과제로 구성하여 학습자의 흥미를 유발할 수 있도록 재미있게 설계하였습니다.
ㆍ본 교재에서 제시한 표현 항목은 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 3』과 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 4』에서 각 28개, 총 56개입니다.

그리고 본 교재에서 제시한 어휘는 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 3』의 경우 1,007개, 『바로 배워 바로 쓰는 세종학당 실용 한국어 4』의 경우 1,083개로 총 2,090개입니다.

The ‘King Sejong Institute Practical Korean’ textbook is a ‘Korean’ textbook that focuses on improving the ‘communication’ skills of overseas Korean language learners and is a revised version of the ‘Sejong Korean Conversation’ textbook developed in 2016.

With the newly published 『King Sejong Institute Practical Korean』, a survey was conducted targeting teachers and learners who had experience using the 『Sejong Korean Conversation』 textbook, and in-depth interviews were conducted with King Sejong Institute dispatched teachers, local teachers, and operating teachers.

We worked to maximize the strengths and complement the weaknesses of 『Sejong Korean Conversation』.

In particular, in line with the 'gender impact evaluation items' that have recently been attracting attention in Korean language textbooks, we removed stereotypes and prejudices about gender roles and improved gender representativeness.

We wanted to eliminate the imbalance.

In addition, we attempted to improve the efficiency of teaching and learning by clarifying and simplifying things that were not clear in illustrations or photos or complicated instructions.

In addition, plural standard words were replaced with vocabulary commonly used by Koreans, and timeliness and practical usability in educational settings were improved by taking into account the changed socio-cultural situation in Korea after publication.

This textbook follows the 45-hour model but adopts a module structure consisting of three parts, so some modules are omitted or some modules are modified depending on the number of classes at each King Sejong Institute.

ㆍ'Part 3' is divided into 'Practice', 'Tell me', 'Listen and speak', and 'Say more'.
