그렇다면 왜 ‘한글교양’인가? 한글은 이미 1997년 유네스코 세계기록유산으로 등재될 만큼 일찌감치 한국을 넘어 인류의 문화적 자산으로 가치를 인정받았다. 자음과 모음의 무한대 조합이 빚어내는 어울림과 생성의 문자이자 하늘·땅·사람(천지인)이 하나 되는 철학을 담은 문자이며 다양한 학문이 녹아든 통합의 문자, 한글. 이러한 한글의 보편적 가치를 제대로 빛내어 새로운 가치를 만들기 위해서는 ‘교양’의 공유가 밑받침 되어야 하기 때문이다. 또한 ‘교양’은 백성이 뜻하는 바를 널리 펴고 교육의 징검다리가 된 한글 창제의 근본정신이기도 하다.

Dr. Kim Seul-ong, who devoted 40 years to the Hangeul movement and research on Hangeul, revived the scientific nature of Hangeul (Hunminjeongeum) and published a book by tying up the culture that is the basis for using the Korean language properly. It is the so-called 『Hangeul Liberal Arts』, which is the core knowledge to share and practice the universal value of Hangeul, which is Korea's representative brand and the cultural heritage of mankind. It solves the knowledge that every Korean should know, which is cultured, with 14 questions from ㄱ to ㅎ. The significance of this book, published on the 600th anniversary of King Sejong's accession, is all the more meaningful if you recall King Sejong's love for the people in the creation of Hangeul.

Then, why 'Hangeul Culture'? Hangeul was already recognized as a cultural asset of mankind beyond Korea to the extent that it was registered as a UNESCO Memory of the World in 1997. It is a character of harmony and creation created by infinite combinations of consonants and vowels, a character that contains the philosophy of unifying heaven, earth, and people (Cheonjiin), and a character of integration in which various studies are melted. This is because in order to create new values by properly shining the universal value of Hangeul, the sharing of 'culture' must be supported.
