이 책은 학문 목적으로 한국에 온 외국인 대학생들을 대상으로 성공적인 한국 대학생활을 할 수 있도록 안내하는 한국문화 교재입니다. 언어를 배운다는 것은 단순히 그 언어에 대해 아는 것이 아니라 그 나라의 문화를 전반적으로 습득하는 것을 포함합니다. 언어란, 그 나라의 역사와 문화의 체계에서 파생되어 형성된 것이기 때문입니다. 따라서 이 책에서는 단어를 외우고 문법의 어순을 기계적으로 암기하는 기존의 언어 교육 방법에서 벗어나, 언어와 문화를 통합하여 한국의 대학 문화를 학습할 수 있습니다. 한국의 대학생이 되어 경험할 수 있는 한국의 대학 문화를 적극적으로 이해하고 향유하는 과정을 통해서 자연스럽게 한국어를 습득할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 학문적인 수행 능력을 함께 향상시키고자 합니다.

이 책은 외국인 대학생들에게 가장 필요하고 유용한 한국의 대학 문화를 여덟 가지 주제로 선정하였습니다. 각 주제[chapter]별로 학내 일정에 따라 자유롭게 조정할 수 있도록 2주 분의 교과 내용을 설계했습니다. 최신 이슈와 트렌드를 반영하여 읽을거리와 생각할 거리, 함께 토론할 거리 등을 제시하였으며, 이를 통해 문화 학습과 더불어 문제해결 능력을 위한 비판적, 논리적 사고력을 함양할 수 있도록 구성하였습니다. 특히 대학 내 캠퍼스 생활 외에도 교외에서 접할 수 있는 한국문화와 관련된 친숙한 내용을 함께 수록함으로써 보편적인 한국문화와 실제 한국 대학생들이 향유하는 대학 문화를 동시에 체험할 수 있도록 구성하였습니다.

또한 직접적인 체험을 통해 대학생활을 이해할 수 있도록 한국 내 어느 대학(교)에서도 활용이 가능한 활동을 과제 수행으로 제시하였습니다. 외국인 대학생들은 과제를 수행하면서 대학 문화를 보다 더 재미있게 이해할 수 있을 것입니다. 문화 비교의 사례는 중국과 일본은 물론 최근 유학생이 급증하고 있는 동아시아, 중앙아시아, 북남미 등의 학생들도 참여할 수 있도록 다양한 나라의 문화를 소개하면서 접근성을 높였습니다. 책 말미에는 외국인 대학생들이 어려워하는 과제(리포트)작성법, 발표 형식 및 토론 양식 등에 대한 가이드라인을 정리하여 부록으로 첨부하였습니다. 이 책은 실제 교육 현장에서 외국인 대학생뿐만 아니라 교수자 모두에게 유용한 학습 자료가 될 수 있으리라 기대합니다. 요컨대 하나의 문화를 이해하고 공유한다는 건 단순히 하나의 언어를 습득하는 것보다 훨씬 가치 있는 일일 것입니다. 이 책을 통해 한국에 온 모든 외국인 대학생들이 보다 한국 대학생활에 안정적으로 적응하여 청춘의 도약을 성취해내시길 기원합니다.

About the book

This book is a Korean culture textbook aimed at foreign university students who have come to Korea for academic purposes to guide them to a successful university life in Korea. Learning a language is not just about knowing the language, but also about acquiring the culture of the country as a whole. Because language is derived from and shaped by a country's history and cultural system, this book goes beyond the traditional language teaching method of memorising words and mechanically memorising the word order of grammar, and integrates language and culture to help you learn about Korean university culture. Through the process of actively understanding and enjoying the Korean university culture that you can experience as a university student in Korea, you will not only acquire the Korean language naturally, but also improve your academic performance.

In this book, we have selected eight topics of Korean university culture that are most necessary and useful for foreign university students. For each topic [chapter], we have designed two weeks' worth of course content that can be freely adjusted according to your academic schedule. We have presented reading material, things to think about, and things to discuss together, reflecting the latest issues and trends, so that you can cultivate critical and logical thinking skills for problem-solving skills in addition to cultural learning. In particular, we have included familiar contents related to Korean culture that can be encountered in the suburbs in addition to campus life in universities, so that students can experience both universal Korean culture and the university culture enjoyed by actual Korean university students.

In addition, activities that can be used at any university in Korea are presented as assignments so that students can understand university life through direct experience. Foreign university students will be able to understand university culture in a more interesting way while doing the assignments. The examples of cultural comparisons have been made more accessible by introducing the cultures of various countries, including China and Japan, as well as East Asia, Central Asia, and North and South America, where the number of international students has increased rapidly in recent years. At the end of the book, guidelines on how to write assignments (reports), presentation formats, and discussion formats that foreign university students have difficulty with are summarised and attached as an appendix. We expect this book to be a useful learning resource for both foreign university students and instructors in actual educational settings. In short, understanding and sharing a culture is far more valuable than simply acquiring a language. We hope that through this book, all foreign university students in Korea will be able to adapt to university life more stably and fulfil the leap of their youth.

Ce livre est un manuel de culture coréenne destiné aux étudiants étrangers qui sont venus en Corée à des fins académiques pour les guider vers une vie universitaire réussie en Corée. Apprendre une langue n'est pas seulement une question de connaissance de la langue, mais aussi d'acquisition de la culture du pays dans son ensemble. Parce que la langue est issue de l'histoire et du système culturel d'un pays, ce livre va au-delà de la méthode traditionnelle d'enseignement des langues pour mémoriser les mots et mécaniquement l'ordre grammatical et intègre la langue et la culture coréennes. Grâce au processus de compréhension et d'appréciation de la culture universitaire coréenne que vous pouvez expérimenter en tant qu'étudiant en Corée, vous allez non seulement acquérir naturellement la langue coréenne, mais aussi améliorer vos résultats scolaires.

Dans ce livre, nous avons sélectionné huit sujets de culture universitaire coréenne qui sont les plus nécessaires et utiles pour les étudiants étrangers. Pour chaque sujet [chapitre], nous avons conçu un contenu de deux semaines qui peut être modifié librement en fonction de votre calendrier scolaire. Nous avons présenté du matériel de lecture, des sujets de réflexion et des sujets de discussion, reflétant les dernières tendances et les dernières questions, afin que vous puissiez acquérir des compétences critiques et logiques pour résoudre des problèmes en plus de l'apprentissage culturel.
